Re: olympus 40-150 2.8 PRO

I'm after one of these but I shall be waiting until this time next year when the price will have dropped by a few hundred. You don't mention if you have the x1.4 converter to go with it as a lot of people will only want the two together.

Re: olympus 40-150 2.8 PRO

If there would be 1.4 tele with it I would definitely mentioned it. It is lens only. Well, what if we all decide to wait over a year to buy any gear..

Hi.

I'd be interested in your lens if you decide to sell it.

Can pay you via PayPal or other secure method.
Please keep in touch, let me know.
Good luck whatever you decide.

Cheers, Davis.

Re: olympus 40-150 2.8 PRO

Can I ask; is it the size of the lens that puts you off, or the size of the lens when compared with a micro Four Thirds camera body?

I have the 12 ~ 40 f2.8 lens, which I am completely bowled over by. However, If I'm honest, it is out of proportion with the EM5 body (although much less so with the grip fitted).

Re: olympus 40-150 2.8 PRO

em1 with 12-40 2.8 is just great, combine with 40-150 2.8 is still quite manageable, it just the size of the lens after using 35-100 2.8 before. well, I'm so confused now..
a lot of interest but no one mentioned price yet :-P

Sir, if you have to ask the price you can't afford it!

Good information though. The 12 ~ 40 is nicely balanced on the EM5 with the grip fitted, and is a cracking lens. I just feel it is out of proportion without the grip.

I wish it would fit my E5 as the 12 ~ 60 lens, good as it is, is a big beast.

Re: olympus 40-150 2.8 PRO

Has anyone seen this bizarre ad on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3314442490...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

for a 40-150 pro at 1100, LESS caps, hood, case and tripod grip. Most odd

Very local to me and would be temped to look if the kit was complete. Am wishing I bought one a couple of weeks ago when SRS were doing them at 1125.

Re: olympus 40-150 2.8 PRO

I guess we all have specific demands and prejudices. For me though, the 35-100 is about at the limit of size for a u43 lens. If I want big lenses and lots of reach, I'd be into a Canon 7d or 7dii with one of the many, many Canon EOS lenses. For the sort of subjects these beasts get used for, the CAF on mirrorless cameras doesn't cut it.

u43 should be about small bodies and small lenses.

Paul,
It's all relative...
u43 is about relatively small bodies and lenses.
The 40-150 Pro (& especially with the MC14) is way smaller than the equivalent Canon lens - and the IQ is wonderful.

Well, I think of it this way. With the Pana 35-100, I'm compelled to carry a macro lens with me, as well as another, longer, but dimmer telephoto.

The Olympus 40-150mm does pretty good macro (0.21x is enough for insects, dragonflies, etc) with good working distance, and with the TC-14 I wouldn't need another telephoto lens.

So in a way the 40-150 is the smaller option.
