EM1 broken....Pen F????

Because I raised a thread asking about a back up camera, my EM1 mk1 has given up the ghost. It wont power on and shutter is stuck closed and rear dial is sticky. Its just out of warranty

So I am awaiting a repair quote from the big O.

How does the Pen F stack up against the EM1 mk 1? - what cant it do that the EM1 can?

I was thinking about a second body anyway so might have to take the plunge

Any thoughts on repair costs or how pen F will square up?

Cheers

Re: EM1 broken....Pen F????

Different camera in many ways. Pen-F lacks PDAF and has brain-dead CAF. It's also not weather-sealed and the grip/handling is poor with bigger lenses. Net, net - it's not a camera really for sports/wildlife etc.

OTOH, it's great for SAF-style shooting and works really well with smaller lenses.

Choose your poison!

FWIW, about three or four years ago, my EPL-5 buggered it shutter.

Cost 90 to replace via Oly service.........

Good luck
