Olympus Image Share App.

Hello.
This morning I mounted my M1 on a tripod in preparation for a bit of experimentation with HDR. I planned to use the O.I.S. app on my iPhone to reduce the chance of camera shake. However it appears that the shutter cannot be triggered by remote control in HDR mode. I have an RM-CB1 cable that I used on my E3/5 but Olympus have chosen not to include the connector port on the M1 so I can't use that.
I also have an old RM-1 wireless transmitter which I've used with all my previous Oly DSLRs but this won't work with the M1 either.
Am I missing something with the Olympus Image Share app or is it very limited in what it can do?
If this is the case and I'm not being thick has anyone found a better solution?
Cheers,

Steve

Re: Olympus Image Share App.

remote port is on camera (RM-UC1 compatible); mains power is via the grip.

IR (RM-!) won't work as there's no IR sensor, but we have WiFi.... will check HDR via OIShare in a moment, when I can find a iSomething lying around the house!

EDIT _ as you say, HDR isn't supported. Given the options, and excellent interface, for all the various shutter options this seems strange. Obviously it's easy enough to shoot the necessary files and combine later but that's not the point! Definitely something to be requested (somehow)!

Re: Olympus Image Share App.

Olympus Image share will do remote control, it shows the view in the viewfinder and you can touch the part of the image you want to be the focus point. However you have to connect the phone to the camera by WiFi.

Thanks Photo-Owl but where is the cable release port?
There are two ports on the E3/5. The flash sync port is on the front of the body and the cable release port is on the side. I can only find the flash sync port on the M1.

Thanks DerekW.
I've been using O.I.S. connected to an iPhone and iPad since I got my M1 last November.
The issue I have is that I can't get it to work with the camera set to take HDR shots, unless I've missed something.

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Olympus Image Share App.

Thanks Photo_Owl. We're editing and posts are crossing.

I didn't realize the RM-UC1 is USB fitment unlike my older dedicated RM-CB1. I'd seen the USB port but it's marked "USB/AV Out" so I didn't think it was for a cable release.

Cheers,
Steve.

Re: Olympus Image Share App.

The cable release port is the USB port under the flap at the side of the camera - the opposite side to the memory card.

Re: Olympus Image Share App.

Just had a rummage in my kit bag and I've got several remote triggers but all are the old 3 pin dedicated type. The RM-UC1 looks expensive. Fingers crossed then for an OIS update.

Steve.

Re: Olympus Image Share App.

The cable arrived today and the remote works a treat with a range of at least 40 feet. Now I can take HDR shots without any risk of camera shake.
I like the idea of O.I.S. for uploading pictures and geotagging but IMHO it is a bit limited as a remote and no good at all to anyone not owning a smart phone.

You might want one of these as back-up?

Hi IainMacD.
I checked yesterday but unfortunately the 7Dayshop version is unavailable. I always check with them for small gadgets like this and I've had some really great quality bargains. My last purchase from 7DS was a 62mm circular polarizing filter for my 12-40mm for only 5.99!

I ordered one of these from Amazon last night:

Pixel RC-201/UC1 Shutter Cable Release with UC1 Type: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics Pixel RC-201/UC1 Shutter Cable Release with UC1 Type: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Cheers,
