My biggest gripe with SD card speeds is that class 10 is not class 10 is not class 10...

The industry needs to sharpen up on how it rates cards.

Mmmmm... are you sure about that?

All Class X means is that the card can keep up with a sequential write speed of at least X megabytes per second. Class 10 is actually very modest by today's standards. The 'Class' rating was developed to inform buyers concerning video recording performance compatibility.

Much more relevant if you have a stills camera with a fast sequential shooting mode is the rated read and write speeds in megabytes per second, so my fastest SD card is Class 10-rated but its maximum write-speed is 90-odd megabytes per second (which is printed on the card label).

Re: Fast 64 Gig SDXC card for 12.99 inc delivery.

That's my issue - badly put perhaps. Better is that all class 10 are not equal.

Minimum specification of sequential write makes it very difficult for the consumer to geniunely compare cards if R/W speeds are what you are concerned about. Both for file transfer and sequential shooting. There comes a point where the hardware can't go any faster and becomes the limitation.

UHS-I isn't much more useful, giving a minimum and maximum performance only and letting the manufacturer tell you where it falls on the scale.

I'd stick a 7dayshop 64gb class 10 in a Raspberry Pi or my phone, but I'll stay with tried and tested Sandisk Extreme 30mb/s cards in the camera
