More street life in Lincoln

Street vendors and the modern equivalent of sandwich-board men.

It's down there!

Sold to the young lady.

I've blurred the little girl's face, since it's on the net.

Hope you enjoy them. Still more to come form Lincoln!

Thanks for looking and comments.

Re: More street life in Lincoln

After listening to the BBC analysis of your recent election on my pillow radio for the last hour or so, and what it said about "polling", I decided to get up and come on forum at 2:30AM to take another fascinating glimpse into Lincoln street life, thanks again Keith!

Another interesting set from Lincoln. Is it me or is it going to the dogs?

Sign of the times, I fear! Also, Lincoln has really only one main shopping street; the guy holding the restaurant sign was there because few people frequent the street on which it's sited.

Not my thing really but why not blurr out the other girls face?

Also Mum and Dad have probably posted dozens of shots of that little girl on the internet and that facebook.

I'd say the choice of the parents to post is different to someone random putting up a picture

OMG - I forgot the little girl in the pushchair. At least, she is sideface, so wouldn't be so easy to recognise. I was just trying to "do the right thing".

My wife's from Lincoln and we still visit when we can. I agree that its changed a lot but I do enjoy the photographic opportunities it provides. Be it candid like you took or some of the architecture in the cathedral.

Note this a potential point of view!

I was hassled the other day for standing in a street and taking a picture of a front door which was right on the pavement. I did not apologise nor should I

IMO you are apologising for something that does not require it. If you were taking a picture of a passing bus would you blur out her face if she was in shot?

I don't see the need in one sense; but in today's over-PC Britain people seem to be obsessed with stopping others taking photos of their kids. I can't see why, myself. Our village hall has a toddler group, and they ban all cameras and camera phones when it's there. The local town council will only allow people to take photos in the market under their supervision, and they dictate what you can photograph, too. Yet there are CCTV cameras everywhere! People are paranoid about the p-word - but does this mean that the operators of town CCTV cameras are immune? Or do they use robots to monitor them?

Even had comment in our camera club (which I've effectively left now) about 'other people's kids' faces shouldn't be visible in competition photos' - not that they did anything about it.

I just thought I should be on the safe side with posting those shots on a public forum. Rightly or wrongly.
