Years ago (79 ish) my company ran three 4WD's in Libya. Landrover was one, it broke down the most, but spares were readily available. Other two were Toyota and Nissan, pretty reliable but difficult to get spares when needed....

FL20, FL36 x2 , FL50, cactus slaves etc.
The Boss (Mrs Shenstone) E620, EM10-II, 14-41Ez, 40-150R, 9 cap and whatever she can nick from me when she wants it

A pity you id not get a chnce to take a picture using the "improved" filter to see what creative features it gave to to the image.

re Landrovers and and LandCruisers - I thought the words were -
If you want to go into the desert / jungle take a land Rover
if you want to get back home take a Landcruiser.

We're now on our third Forester - the 2012 model which has a lip. In the winter it gets to places other 4x4 can't.

My Forester at the SS Maheno Wreck on Fraser Island. This photo was taken with the lens and camera which fell out of the boot.

It is actually my second Forester. The first one was provided to me by my then employer for my private use and I found its off-road capability to be amazing for a little SUV. A colleague of mine took his wife and two grandchildren up to Cape York in his Forester and reported no problems.

When I resigned and moved back to Brisbane, I bought a slightly up-market one for myself. Now if it weren't for that lack of a lip at the edge of the boot....... But at least I get the benefit of a full-sized spare wheel.
