Better stock up - they're in receivership.

Re: PoundLand film

Great shame for the employees, and a pitty for photographers that Agfa Vista, aka PoundLand Film, disappeared years ago.

The business model was well and truly flawed; the smallest of margins set against rising costs brought about by inflation, plus an adverse $ / £ exchange rate.

They were/are one of our customers. Brexit didn't help of course - it was the primary driver of an approx 20% devaluation in the £.

PoundLand seem to be ok, don't they, it's Poundworld that are in trouble. But, neither sell the Agfa Vista, it was hasta la vista unfortunately. With hindsight I should have filled the fridge.

Re: PoundLand film

I would guess that they are similar business models, so if one is in trouble the other cannot be far behind. In fact, it's quite clear that high street retail as a whole is under increasing pressure in a difficult environment. Radical action is needed, such as capping rents, abolishing business rates and/or increasing taxation on Internet retailers.

Presumably the film costs just a £1 - buy it while you can!

Re: PoundLand film

"Capping rents"! It seems that many councils would rather a business collapse and the shop remain empty, than make the rent affordable!

Re: PoundLand film

If Leamington is anything to go by, the council seem to have no shortage of people wanting to take over as retailers pull out - but it's all coffee shops and charity shops. You can hardly walk 100 yards now without finding another coffee shop. I guess by charging £3 for a coffee they can afford the rates.

Many of us are culpable to a degree in the way we've changed the way we shop, ie from the high street to the internet. If I'm buying something more that £50, for example, I'll check the shop price and then compare with the Internet.

Sadly, PoundLand film, 'AgfaVista200', was withdrawn a year or so ago. No more unfortunately.
