West pier long exposure sunset

Well it was not the most spectacular sunset I have seen but again the weather was wild on the west coast of Cumbria, This the west pier at whitehaven on Friday night with a 60 second exposure

Re: West pier long exposure sunset

I think I'd have waited for someone to turn the lighthouse on.

Other than that very nice.

Far too large to be viewed as a complete image without scrolling so impossible to form an opinion about the photo.

That's when you give it a helping hand with your image editor.

That's what my first grin was about.

I have amended that just for you John but blame the forum not me as other forums sort constrain the image for smaller screens.

Thats much better Alf, it fills the screen perfectly now. Thank you very much. I wish all posts were that size. You have managed to produce a very good image too as usual. I like it

Regards,

John

Holding down control & using the scroll wheel on the mouse will typically* zoom your browser in/out to make images fit.

*This works both at home on Firefox & using IE11 at work. it may not work with all browsers

Thanks Mike but I am aware of how to alter the screen size, however I now refuse to do it any more. In the same way, I will not click on links thumbnails or attachments.

As Alf rightly says, this is the fault of the forum set up that allows photos of ridiculous sizes to be posted. It is just as easy to post photos of a suitable dimension that they can be viewed by anyone without scrolling as Alf has kindly done with this photo.

I had hoped this flaw would be corrected and max dimensions introduced when the new forum software and gallery was installed by Ian but this all seems to be on hold at the moment.

In the meantime I'll just carry on with my habit of not viewing anything that has to be scrolled or clicked on.

Regards,

John

I said its the forums and what I meant is the forum software for not constraing the photo for users like yourself. My preference is for larger images and thats why I post them.

Re: West pier long exposure sunset

As it's a navigation light is there a second one close by?

Close to here on Lake Huron there's a pair of towers with lights on used for guiding boats into the dock at the mouth of a river flowing into the lake. They're known as Range Lights locally although I don't know if that's the official name for them.

There is indeed another close by about 10 foot behind me was the red light looking like shot I took a sunset some time ago
