More Fjord Pining
OK - so a few more of the Fjords (and a few other Norway shots). Shout if you're getting bored!

I never tire of scenes like these. I've only once been to Norway, many years ago and your posts are bringing back many happy memories.

Re: More Fjord Pining
Looks beautiful - some lovely shots there.
The red house, first waterfall and the final shot stand out in particular. Not getting bored by looking at great pictures of places I've never been - not enough pictures here for a Photography forum ![]()

Re: More Fjord Pining
Nice - keep 'em coming.
Were the mountain cascade ones handheld, Paul? Kate & I are spending 3 days in an AirB&B on Oslo harbourside in a few weeks. The place seems to be constructed of good modern architectural photo compositions, but can you recommend any particularly nice sunrise locations?

![]() Architectural Patterns by Paul Kaye, on Flickr As regards sunrise - you do realise it'll be at about 4am? Stelarium tells me it'll rise at a compass heading of approx 50 deg - so more or less a NE heading. Oslo harbour faces the opposite way (SW), so you probably need to get away from the city. The island of Bygdoy (pronounced "Big Day") would work, but you'll need to get a bus there and I'm not sure whether they'll be running at that time. Closer to the city and walkable, you could head for the little peninsula west of the harbour - close to where the Akerhus slott is (an old castle). Not sure what they views would look like, but worth a scout there first I think. The slott is interesting in itself and I can wholeheartedly recommend the armed forces museum close by - it's free and quite excellent. |

Yes, ‘sunrise’ was a shorthand! It generally translates in to “a couple of hours before a late breakfast together when Mark can get out for some early street/landscape/wildlife shooting and Kate can have a bit of a lie-in”. It works for us. Thanks for the tips - I suspect this’ll be a mix of street and architectural shooting with fewer people about, but hopefully nice light. We’re on a little street called Kanalen, right on the harbour.

Lovely shots Paul, keep them coming.
It's 34 years since my last visit, the memories are flooding back, well a trickle maybe. |
