My wildlife try...

It all started after I went to Richmond Park two weeks earlier, to discover it on a bike and check out how my m42 Jupiter-9 85mm F2 would perform, and of course I was hoping to find some deer (never been there yet). Below are some results of that:

So quickly after that I wanted some more - as I always wanted to shoot some wildlife - so after few hours on ebay I ended up having three new lenses: OM 200mm F4, OM 300 F4.5 and Vivitar 400mm F5.6 (m42). And of course OM > 43 adapter with Dandelion which seems to be not working on EM-1, but I didn't care about that as I had focus peaking.
Cost of everything: £250.

I took all that gear + 12-40mm in case I needed wide angle and went to try to catch some birds at London Wetland Centre. I wouldn’t call it success, but as a first time - I learned some manual focusing skills

After half a day there, I went to Richmond Park to see if I could find some deers. I liked using 400mm and the ability to be far away from the deer, but still there were people approaching them closely trying to feed them, taking photos with them, etc. The end result - they were scaring them.

Vivitar Image quality was rather poor: soft at f5,6 and slightly better at f8, acceptable sharpness at f11. OM lenses were much better, even when maximum open, but I had them at F5.6 most of the time.

All photos were hand held.

Now after all of that, I have some questions:

1. I am considering 500mm mirror lens, is it worth buying? Would I get some nice results with a mirror lens? I don't mind F8 as I already had the Vivitar closed to F11 most of the time.

2. Are there any other places in or around London where I could find deers where there are no people to disturb them?

3. Any tips for birds in flight on manual?

Re: My wildlife try...

These are all excellent but I don't seem to be able to find out which lens was used on some of the images.

Re: My wildlife try...

Thanks David,

I tagged them in my Lightroom with the lens names, but tags are not shown at Google Plus, so I went though them all and added Lenses to their descriptions. Should be clearer now.
