Unhappy Today Didn't Happen !

1:00am Sunday here, outside temp' still 26C after Saturday's top 40C.
I've just switched on the inverter to drop indoors temp to 22C, then hit the hay.
Been an expensive week, first the Mazda's engine mounts need replacing, to be done Wednesday, $500.
Second my external storage drive CRASHED with 1TB of images aboard (not all of it backed up )
so my computer guru is trying to recover the data, cost unknown but likely to be 'exie'.
Thirdly my phone battery is about to drop dead, never buy anything with the word 'Samsung' written on it,
so will replace it with a Sony Experia XZ Premium, $850. Hopefully the Sony is as good as its reviews
What a day, what a bloody week, but I love that seductive sexy luminous chrome case, don't you! ! !

Selfie shot on store's demo model connected to security alarm ... people don't trust one another no more.
Edit: Selfie was shot in store Xmas Eve, I'll ring store this AM to check its still on Special - store is 75km away.

..................................[THAT'S A HOT PRICE - NORMALLY $999 = ₤569

Re: Today Didn't Happen !

Obviously the offer of 20Gb of data is attractive to you Mark. From what you have told us about Aussie broadband it would take from here to eternity to download that much!

Re: Today Didn't Happen !

Paul, John - yes, it never rains but it pours, as they say. But the upsides are that the Mazda will drive like new,
and I got a nice new Western Digital 2TB external drive, plus 'the latest and greatest' in smartphone
technology, even if I do have to live on stale bread and dogfood for the next coupla months!

PS: I've had to edit the above on the lappy because the first attempt to reply on
the nasty Galaxy-S6 spewed text all over the bloody place - I HATE SAMSUNGS ! ! !

one extra drive is not sufficient - you need two so you have back up of your back up.

Mark is on bread and dog food for the next few months with the occasional tin of Whiskers cat food as a treat. There's no way he's going to be buying another drive unless he sells the Mazda

Re: Today Didn't Happen !

Sounds like our January. If a Terminator robot, from the future, arrived at our house to prevent me from one day leading the resistance, it would probably break down. We’d need to reset it!

In that statement you've no idea as to how close you are to the Mark

Trouble getting my head around that, maybe too early in the morning ..

Re: Today Didn't Happen !

Well on a positive note, we have three Sony Z3's in this household, and two Z3 compacts. I have no idea how old they are now but they work well and have good battery life.

I wouldn't be too keen on a Samsung given their track record with batteries. Let's just hope Samsung doesn't diversify into building electric cars!

Re: Today Didn't Happen !

You can obtain dog food and you think things are bad?
Hope you get things sorted soon and do not had to drive with clunky engine mounts for long.
I got my leaking roof fixed so things over here are looking up.

Re: Today Didn't Happen !

Well Mark, at least you yourself didn't break down! (Unlike me these last few days. Had a kind of chest bug, woke up Monday morning and could hardly breathe. Came away from GP with an armful of tablets and a Ventolin, and instructions to be back there in two hours if my breathing didn't improve. Fortunately, it did. But it wasn't a nice experience! You don't want any like that.)

Re: Today Didn't Happen !

Thanks guys for your much appreciated commiserations! Really not bad luck, just bad circumstantial management on my part.

Good to hear that you got your leaking roof fixed, Ed.
To have been lying in a bed with water pouring down
all over you would not be a nice way to wake up!

The Mazda's engine mounts were replaced today by my top notch mechanic who happens to be a Brit.
He trained with Mazda in England and became one of their most highly qualified Mazda specialists.
He's set up here in Wang' with his own ultra modern well equipped service centre and doing very well.
It now drives like a dream!

Sorry to hear that you've been unwell, Keith. Was the GP not able to precisely diagnose what the problem was?

Well it would have been worse had it been a Whitewash (almost was!)

Fortunately I cope with the heat quite well. To use an old seadog's phrase, it's cold that shivers me timbers, Mark ...

I am so far chuffed with the XZ Premium. I use it to tether my laptop as I have no landline, it has increased
the speed of my internet connection dramatically. But early days yet, ask me again in a year or two!
Meanwhile, here's a shot I took just a moment ago, call it Suburban Sunset, eh?
