Hi ed

it's been relocated see..

You can still find it via the index or via the new posts menu item, but the purpose as a photo forum has been re-prioritised above it

Re: Merry Christmas

Nice. But you'd have got a much better starburst with a Voigtlander 42.5...

Re: Merry Christmas

I hope everyone has the celebrations they want.

Our Christmas has started off in the traditional way. I am trying to locate and seal a leak in the garage roof, right above where my microscope was set up.

A very good friend of ours has just had large hole smashed through his garage roof by a thief. The guy jumped into the garage through the hole he made then discovered he was unable to get out again. The police helped him to get out but in the process he had caused 1600 of damage to the roof and contents. As you say Harold, a traditional Merry Christmas.

Best wishes,

John

Re: Merry Christmas

I'm about ready for Xmas.

In the past week we've had a leaking loo cistern (the repair of which revealed that some dork must have connected our hot and cold water systems at some stage in the past), and my wife lost her house and car keys and then (in an indirect way) revealed roughly where we live on social media (so I've had an entertaining day changing all our external door locks/cylinders, and after Xmas we'll need to sort out reprogramming the car & keys...).

There are some positives: we are insured for the costs of key loss, plus I already had on my to-do list replacing all but one of those house locks because they were worn and/or stiff and knackered. It was also 'nostalgic' to look out my old steering wheel lock that I used on the Lotus & MG years ago.

I just could have done with doing other things yesterday...

I like the positive spin you put on the day's entertainment.

Re: Merry Christmas

Yeh yeh, Happy Christmas to one an all.

We too have had our issues with machines.
First, wife's laptop conked out and needed sorting.
Then the freezer decided to pack up and I ended up ordering one on line while cooking a chilli for my U3A photo group. (Gotta say that it was delivered next day by some nice guys from AO.)
And to top it all, the hard drive serving the telly conked out, and we lost all the recorded programmes we had saved.

But hey ho, it's lunch out and panto time this afternoon
