Fieldfare

The frozen garden windfall apples are a nice little feast this time of year.
The Fares are very shy with the camera, but not so with the blackbirds when defending the patch. Just a bit too cold to spend too long outside for a clear shot!

Re: Fieldfare

Nice shots. I saw one of these in the garden this last weekend and wondered what species it was. Now I know!

Re: Fieldfare

We have seen them very occasionally, but they are good at keeping away from people! Nice shots.

I always think they are a bit like a Heinz bird, bit of this, but of that, all put together as a bird! (apologies to the old Ford ditty...)

Re: Fieldfare

Very nice Andrew. I have only seen one Fieldfare this year. I guess they are all in your, and Paul's, garden.

A couple of Redwings too, but they seem to be at the bottom of the pecking order after the Blackbird and Thrush.

Re: Fieldfare

Lovely shots. I mostly see them in a large mixed flock where they are very jumpy. So distant flying away with plenty of noise (they swear as they fly - which I completely understand as they were happy eating until I came along!) is the norm. You should rent out your garden...!

Re: Fieldfare

Incredibly crisp shots there, Andrew - I'm afraid my E3 is no match for M 4/3rds and it's way too late for me to be buying new kit!

Nothing wrong with the E3 Mark, you just need to remember to take it out with you!

Bugger how good the shot is - great to see the Bird. Now rarer than when I was a Kid.
