Repair Saga: Month two

With apologies to any Poets amongs us... but here is my message for the Oly service centre (if they read these forums..)

Still waiting for the postman, days pass in fives and tens.
Talk to me Olympus: Where's my flipping lens?

I'm getting rather angry, (though I say in my defence
Its two months since I posted it): Where's my flipping lens?

It wasn't very broken. Don't think me rather dense
but can't you keep your spares in stock. Where's my flipping lens???

Phone or text or email, or use Olympus pens
Just let me know what's going on: Where's my flipping lens?

See the seasons changing on mountains and in glens
I won't be taking pictures 'till I get my flipping lens...

I hope your'e making profit, but are you making friends?
You've had my cash, now don't be flash: Where's my flipping lens?

I won't be counting chickens. I won't be counting hens
Believe it when I see it. (Where's my flipping lens!)

There.
I feel a bit better now.

Pete

Re: Repair Saga: Month two

Looking at some of the 'repair' posts recently, their customer service leaves a bit (read: lot) to be desired... why can't they keep all necessary spare parts in stock? It's the UK we live in, not Outer Mongolia...

I think I have a fault with my new E-600, but dread the thought of sending it to them....

They had it in their hands 25th Feb and I authorised the repair with credit card the same day.

Seems they have lost the plot, after your delay I should cont myself lucky with only 4 weeks. one of those was wasted by wrong info from Olympus in the first place.

Shame the consumer can't have 'do the work first, and then pay upon completion' - it might make them work a bit faster (but then it might also make the work a bit shoddier?).

But whatever the pros and cons, this doesn't seem a good advert for the Oly Service Centre - as with so many businesses, it's a real shame that they can't see the benefit of at least keeping you up-to-date with the work progress - none of us like to be kept waiting but it does keep the client happier to know what is happening.
Can the power of the Forum not get some comment illicited back from the Oly Service Centre?

Re: Repair Saga: Month two

Why don`t we have an `Olympus service centre` section on the forum, to make the communication easier for everyone

I doubt very much that anyone from Olympus even gives the forum a glance, that's if they even know it exists (although they sponsor it!) - the only way is if Ian takes it upon himself to enquire, but we can't expect him to do that for everyone, as the way things appear to be at the moment it would be a full-time job for him....

Re: Repair Saga: Month two

If they are waiting on spares from Japan or China then they now have another excuse as there are no flights. So you are now waiting for a container ship to wend its way from the far east, get captured off Somalia, wait for a ransom to be paid and then get to Europe sometime next year.

Not wishing to appear to be over optimistic

Re: Repair Saga: Month two

BTW: By my calculation - if it takes a month to get spares to Portugal from Japan, the average speed is 9.5mph. Any offers of the mode of transport they use???

Re: Repair Saga: Month two

Today's news. The parts due on the 15th April are vapourware apparently. The new date for the required parts is early June. So projected lensless period looks like being 5 months.

That's ridiculous. Enough to put you off the brand!

Re: Repair Saga: Month two

That is just not good enough is it
Very poor service, and I thought waiting for my Sigma lens to be repaired was taking long enough.
I would be hopping mad now, I think emails to all departments within Olympus “customer care”? stating your case.
