Re: Worth M 2.2 ???

My licence fee doesn't pay anything towards Chris Evans, it goes mostly on Radios 3 and 4, BBC2 and BBC4. In my opinion Sky is ludicrously overpriced and you have to suffer adverts as well.

I'm in the same camp as you Ian. BBC might not be perfect but it would be a pretty sad world if all broadcasting was commercial.
I struggle with the rationale of revealing star salaries. All I can see is it causing upset and argument. Without some comparisons with stars at the commercial stations isn't this a bit pointless?

Re: Worth M 2.2 ???

I guess that as I travel abroad reasonably frequently I see what awful TV broadcasting there is elsewhere. BBC World is a real comfort in hotel room. But let's not forget the BBC website, radio, drama, etc.

I fear the scenario where we'll lose the BBC and many of its detractors will only then realise what they've lost.

Ian

Ahh well, football is a good 'working class' sport.

I don't watch much television, (more of a 'wireless' man myself), but in my view the licence fee is a small price to pay for enjoying advert free radio and television.

However, it does irk me that around seventeen thousand people will have suffered some hardship to pay their licence fees so that we can wake up to the pleasure of Chris Evans.

Like you I have been doing a lot of travelling over the last 3 years and BBC in all its forms have helped me a lot, especially the high quality (Program content not HD) downloads that have got me through the dark hours of not sleeping.

Mind you I agree that I never watch/listen to anything with CE in as I find him awful so I have no idea why he's paid so much, and I don't watch sport so GL is also a waste of money IMO.

Regards
Andy
