Re: E30 Shutter Problem

Thanks for the comments they are really encouraging. Just feeling a bit flat over this.

I have emailed Johnstones and will see what they have to say and will also be in touch with Olympus tomorrow.

Thanks again

Greg

Re: E30 Shutter Problem

Even though Christmas is looming, my good lady, Lesley, has virtually forced me to send the E30 to olympus. No word back as yet but fingers crossed.

Some of you may recall that I bought the E30 from jonesy, through this forum. Well guess what, the same fault occurred last year and the camera was repaired under warranty by olympus

Hopefully they will recognise the serial number and realise that they did not carry out an effective repair previously.

Greg

Re: E30 Shutter Problem

The problem according to Olympus was with the lens barrel and is 177 to repair. Payment was made by Lesley, I think she wants me out the house more

Looking forward to getting the camera back as I have missed it.

Had a quick word with someone from technical today as I am concerned that the same or similar fault has occurred twice in twelve months. Although they personally had not looked at my camera, they diagnosed a sensor problem from my description of the fault. I will wait and see what is said in the letter that will accompany my camera on it's return.

Re: E30 Shutter Problem

Sounds like a better result than you were expecting Greg.
I hope that your E-30 gives you trouble free service from now on.

Re: E30 Shutter Problem

I hope you didn't "bin" the E30. i had the same problem. Sent it to Olympus and they returned it with a brand new set of innards. Its a standard fee of 130. Any repair involves you sending your camera to them, they take out the innards and put a new lot in and return it. 130. did the same for my E500.
