Talking Canon shooter takes E-P1 on holiday and loves it

As many of you know, Stephen is a forum moderator on our other site, Four Thirds User and has been helping me since way back in 2001 when I launched Digital Photography Now (DPNow). As he mentioned recently on FTU he is not a Four Thirds camera user (He's a Canon pro photographer), but he was quite keen to try the E-P1 and I managed to get Olympus to loan him one for his holiday in Canada. He is there now and he has just started a vacation photo blog on DPNow, and so far he's thoroughly enjoying the use of the E-P1, as you will see in his blog!

Good!

The EP-1 is doing well, but the photos are also an illustration that it's the photographer that makes the pic.

Oh, absolutely, but it also goes that give a good worker the right tools...

I believe Stephen has taken his Canon EOS-1D Mark II with him, I would guess mainly for telephoto shots as he only has the E-P1's standard zoom with him.

The EP-1 has obviously done a good job! I must say though that as much as we don`t like C**ons here, the EOS 1D is a superb camera!

Re: Canon shooter takes E-P1 on holiday and loves it

Phew, what a job it was to get signed up here, maybe Ian should use the system on DPNow, it may stop a few spammers As you may guess I'm the Stephen Ian refers to in this thread. I've been back from Canada for over a week now and have only just found the thread, I had no idea Ian was mentioning my use of an E-P1 here too. No worries though, I hope at least a few of the members here have been interested enough to have a look at my blog, and to Makonde and EH1 who commented here, I thank you very much. To anyone else that may be interested the blog can be found HERE

If you do care to check it out, I hope you will believe me when I say that I have been impressed with, and have enjoyed greatly the experience of using the camera. OK, when you are used to using a big camera like the 1DMkII and all that goes with it, you are going to encounter the odd niggly thing with such a camera. It certainly is not ideal for some types of photography, but hey I was on holiday, and not working on an assignment, so you put up with these things and get used to them.

I've put together a few thoughts on my use of the camera, which I've passed on to Ian, so I'm hoping that perhaps he will be happy for me to put this up here in some form or another. Suffice to say at this stage that the results on my blog and my DPNow gallery speak for themselves
