Sunday Sun Up to Sun Down

Last Sunday Steve (Stoates) and I had a full day out and took in the Ullapool and Inverpolly/Assynt area.
We started with sunrise at Loch Droma beside the A835 road to Ullapool. Fortunately the thick fog we had driven through began to break up and left some pockets of mist on the low hills:

Only a couple of miles further on we waited for the rising sun to illuminate this scene with An Teallach as the backdrop:

Loch Cul Dromannan was flat calm as we passed so we had to stop for the obligatory postcard reflection shot of Stac Pollaidh and Cul Beag:

Another stop a little closer to Stac Pollaidh:

We then headed for the little village of Reiff and took a stroll along the dramatic coastline to the north:

We had a location in mind for a sunset too, but after climbing onto the low hill and stumbling through the peaty bog the weather closed in and the drizzle started!
The rest of the day had been most enjoyable.

Stunning set. A perfect example of how to do landscape photography. I'm very jealous!

Re: Sunday Sun Up to Sun Down

Great photos of my favourite part of the world. I was working in that area on Wednesday but the weather wasn't as good. I only managed some drive past shots with my phone and a few very high iso pictures of a kestrel and a buzzard with my camera. It seems that if I leave my camera at home I get great views and close-ups of birds of prey. I was almost tempted to have a quick walk up Stac Pollaidh but forced myself to do some work instead.

Re: Sunday Sun Up to Sun Down

I would like to have been there as well. #4 (An Teallach) is my favourite.

A magnificent set of images that reflect a deep love of your beautiful country, Iain. In particular I like #3 and #6.
