Insect ID's please (4 shots with 150mm Macro)

Hi All

Went for a smashing walk yesterday to Merthyr Mawr sand dunes and whilst the young 'uns were having fun frolicking on the beach et al, I was rummaging through the dune grass and gorse seeing what I could spot to capture with the 150mm macro. Here's some pretty uninteresting shots, but wondered if any experts here could help me ID what they are please.

I think these next two shots are both of Ticks?

Some form of Sand Beetle?

A very weird, and furry fly of some form!

Great shots....all totally weird subjects....you never know what's going on deep in the undergrowth.
Love the piggy-piggy-back one- well spotted.

Hi John, you got some beetles there in the first two images, def. no ticks.

The fury fly looks like a male Thereva annulata in my book. Sorry, I don't know a common English name for it, but it is described as being characteristic for sand, beach environments.

I think I would really enjoy the 150mm Macro too, if I only could get me one. Nice performance.

The first two look like weevils to me, not sure which sort though - cracking set of shots

Can't ID them properly, as I'm busy hiding under the living room table!

FAR too many legs for me to even think about, but that first one is an absolute cracker of a shot! (and I suspect they are indeed weevils as Danny said)

...don't ask me how I know this....

Can't help with the ID John but I can see you are quickly becoming 'bests pals' with the 150 Sigma

John, could the first one possibly be Glocianus pilosellus, a rather rare type of weevil?

Of no help whatsoever with identities John - they are cracking images. Try this Wild About Britain Forum - I would be amazed if you don't get ID inside 24 hours.
