Insect ID anyone?

Can anyone knowledgeable identify this insect I found in my polytunnel?
It was quite large - maybe 30mm overall and to my untrained eye was wasp like in its shape - it had a long abdomen (largely hidden by its wings here) joined to the thorax by an unfeasibly narrow connection. The antenna were long and very active.

Thanks for any help

Martin

I've not got time to have a look myself as tea is about ready, but you might want to have a look here.

Hi

I cannot tell the species but I believe you start looking into the Conopidae family, usually known as the thick-headed flies.
