Ice Shapes

I woke to see amazing patterns in the ice that had formed overnight on the roof of the car. I had to capture them...

The beauty of Nature, these patterns look like feathers.

Re: Ice Shapes

I too had my car made beautiful by nature, but had my wife with me which pretty much put a stop to going back for the camera and recording the wonderful patterns...

Re: Ice Shapes

The physicist/chemist in me is intrigued by how the molecular structure of water has generated this amazing mix of symmetry and asymmetry. Reverse engineering of higher-order symmetry to determine molecular structure is what X-ray crystallography is all about - and it's mind-bogglingly complicated.
