Crested Pidgeon

This morning, down by One Mile Creek, a lone Crested Pigeon was fossicking about in the bracken when I came along.
As I drew closer it seemed unperturbed by my presence, kept pecking away at whatever grubs lay beneath the dry leaves.
Pigeons in general are pretty soft targets for photographers, they tend to be more trusting than others, so I kept it in frame
until it settled under a shrub. I followed to within less than three metres. It knew that I was a friendly photographer and posed for a portrait.

Re: Crested Pidgeon

You're getting some nice photos with that lens combo. I guess you're happy you have it now?

Re: Crested Pidgeon

Thanks Ross, yes, you're right, the lens is a howler, and the camera, a doozie!
Although there are times when I wish I'd spent more of the kids inheritance on an M1 Mkii!

Yeah, I know, that guilt one feels for their children when spending on self.
I only jumped on one last year when I had a bonus amount of income at the time rather than try & convince my better half later I need to spend her money on an expensive body & I won't be going for the top model coming next year as that is rumoured to be about US$3000, not that I need it anyhow, but there is a lens that will be very tempting though.
