Surely that's good news? - assuming you have the RMSD receipt. Unless they can account for it, they owe you the value of a new lens!

Packaged the Camera and on Monday morn rang DHL to arrange pickup, they said it would be collected on Tues (yesterday) but it wasn't I rang them this morn and they offered no explanation but said it would be picked up today. So a week and a half after my camera went faulty it's still sitting waiting to be sent away. My advice, just send it yourself, get a ref No from Oly and say you will send yourself via RMSD, sure it will cost you 6 but I'd rather have paid that than be dicked about by DHL, I would be over a week ahead if only I'd done that. :-(

What Royal mail service did you use to send for 6.00? Last time I sent my E3 away it cost just over 20

Re: repair saga

Can you advise? I'm gonna be sending my E3 back to Oly in the next week or so, I really don't wanna spend 20 if I can send it cheaper.

Cheers

Re: repair saga

It depends on the weight, try to keep the weight down below 2Kgs and it will cost 9.50 for up to 1000 insurance cover, keep it below 1kg and it will cost 7.55. you don't need to send any accessories, batteries etc when getting a camera fixed.

Here's a link to RMSD costs.

Re: repair saga

Hmm

Olympus have now had my lens for about 3 weeks. I was allowing myself the believe it might be here soon. Instead I had a letter from them tonight (why do they write, whats wrong with using email, I gave them my email address) saying that the repair department is awaiting parts. They apologise etc etc...

So, who knows how long it will be away.

Getting slightly annoyed.

Re: repair saga

Yes that is a long time, good luck.

I sent my E3 back to them today, sent it RMSD for 7.20, didn't want to go through all the courier hassle again so hoping they sort it fast and get it back to me ASAP.

Re: repair saga

OK.
Another week gone by. Still no repaired lens.

For the benefit of those who were not born when this saga started, I posted a lens for repair on the 18th Feb and had the estimate posted back to me on the 25th Feb. I phoned Olympus and authorised the repair on credit card the same day.

Some weeks later I get a letter saying they don't have the parts, so they are ordering them.

I calculate they have had the lens in Portugal for 5 weeks. I now find they have billed my credit card.

So, can I have my lens repaired please?
Getting a tiny bit cross now.

Pete

Re: repair saga

Oh, and another thing - are they allowed to take money off a credit card/phone transaction before they ship the goods?

The dosh was removed a week before they sent the letter saying they were short of parts to do the repair.

Re: repair saga

Just tell them that they have exceeded "fair time consumption" for the repair, and that you would see it as a good token from their side to provide you with a new lens at no cost... and it would also show that they care about more than getting away with abusing people's patience.

Re: repair saga

(because we have an account at work) I DHL'd my E520 to Southend on a Monday 16:00 pickup. DHL tracked it to their Chelmsford depot the save evening but then failed to tracjk it any further. I phoned Oly @Southend on the Thursday to find the camera was already in Portugal, had been fixed and due for Friday return. It arrived at my home before midday on the following Monday. Hours less than a working week. DHL still have no track of the parcel after Chelmsford.
