What is rep power?

This is probably a very silly question, but I see 'rep power' and then a number under next to contributors names - what does it mean?

There was a whole thread devoted to this in April and the conclusive answer was, "nobody really knows!" For what it's worth, I've just clicked to add to your rep power because you're such a darn good photographer and prolific contributer to this site and FTU. But I doubt it will instantly change anything!

I think we'll just have to file Rep Power under "Life's unsolved mysteries."

Yes, it's totally harmless - unlike many things in life!

Re: What is rep power?

The only thing is you can lose it, if anyone 'objects' to your posts - and I've a feeling personal clicks affect how this happens.

But it's all meaningless, just continue to post interesting pictures and make honest comments, that is all that matters.
