Plastic..Not so fantastic
Just got back from a few days away in North Norfolk and had an great opportunity to take some wild seals on the beach. Whilst sifting through the many than I took this one just highlighted the reason why we need to stop producing the plastics that we do and to clean up our oceans before its too late, I hadn't noticed this when I took the picture BTW... I will post a few more when I can.

Re: Plastic..Not so fantastic
Some years ago I camped for a few days on the island of Staffa, which is deserted. Before I went I thought I could spend a bit of time cleaning a beach of rubbish, taking a couple of bin bags off. When I checked the beaches I found that they were knee deep in rubbish at the strand line. I would have needed a skip just to clear a few meters of shore!

Re: Plastic..Not so fantastic
Same with Gower here in South Wales. When I was with the RSPB group, we did a dead bird survey on many beaches. Survey to look at cause of death and numbers.
There were areas along the rocky beach where rubbish just collected due to the topography. largely plastic waste but also included wood and fishing gear/rope etc. No Beach clean was gonna clear that in a hurry...…………. ![]() Super photos Peter, from my "home" area...………. ![]() |
