Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I have no doubt "X" will be a superb camera. But the pricing puts it in the Pro league I think.

If I am to invest further in Oly, it will be lenses, (300mm f4).

That might be the direction I'll end up taking as I think Oly's 150-400 maybe an F4 which won't be cheap & not sure the other lenses (8 to come this year) are going to be in the long range yet either.

As far as the E-M1X is concerned, & my wife telling me I won't be buying a camera (or lenses) this year, but when I said the E-M1X was not for me her reply was, "Yes, but you'll be buying another camera within 2 years (meaning, I'll be wanting to)." So I'll take that as a licence to buy something within 2 years then.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

If it is available April then that gives them a couple of months for testing it and perhaps testing reviews too .
That will give us a bit more to go on before buying .

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

None around here so I think I'll wait till the Photo Show to get a play with one. I'm assuming they ought to be there in some numbers by mid March. I seem to recall Ian suggesting an e-group meet at the NEC, maybe a group showing of the EM1X would be a suitable event to get a sizable contingent to attend a meet?

Actually, I see the latest leaked specs has it at April for release now. The first leaked specs didn't include an available date.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

Rumours sound good apart from prices,it would have to be better than the a9 for my consideration, bearing in mind the global shutter cant be far off with sony, that will reset all present options, so its proceed with caution for me.

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

I have kept up with the comments thus far and rumours. I have not commented so far. My two penny worth is that from a wildlife point of view OLY needs to make more lenses in the F2.8 sector for telephoto lenses ie there should be a 300f2.8 and 4002.8 telephoto lens
Yes they will be large, heavy, and expensive but that’s physics. I have the 300f4 pro and it is a sharp lens but essentially it’s bokeh is as a f8. Its extremely difficult to isolate the subject but not impossible ie bird on a stick. I therefore have little interest in the upcoming 150-400. The em1x unless there is a really big advantage over my em1mk2s focussing acquisition is a non starter. The em1x needs to focus like the Nikon d500 or Canon 1dx series to interest me. Just my thoughts guys.
Kind regards mike

Lots more photos here: https://photorumors.com/2019/01/21/m...-m1x-pictures/

Looks like the card door has its own locking release. The 3 buttons on the top left (above the power on/off) are now revealed too.

What a great looking camera!

I always wondered what happened to the TR7 design team. Mistakenly I thought they'd moved on to the business of designing dogs' dinners.
