Mac User & newbie - MacPhun?

Hi all,

I am a newbie to more advanced photo software, using mainly preinstalled or free software to adjust my photos (enthusiast about to switch to OMD). Plan to play with RAW and Jpegs.

I have a fast Retina MacBook Pro and was thinking buying the MacPhun Creative suite which plugs into Apple Photo. It seems to be a decent price and toolset - http://macphun.com/creativekit

Any experiences with it or would you suggest going the photoshop / Lightroom path?

All suggestions welcome.

Many thanks

You could also consider Capture One Pro 9 https://www.phaseone.com/Products/So...ighlights.aspx

I fiddle with violins (when I'm not fiddling with a camera).

Re: Mac User & newbie - MacPhun?

I use Macphun Snapheal and Noisless on my iMac. The Snapheal is a very useful tool for erasing, healing and cloning, generally easier to use than these facilities in LR. It also has adjustment sliders, the sharpening and NR functions being very usable. I haven't found Noiseless to give me much more than I can achieve with Snap heal.

Re: Mac User & newbie - MacPhun?

Try all of the options!

I took the LR/PS plunge a little while ago and struggled to get from the Mac Mini running OSX 10.9 through to 10.11 running LR as there were so many upgrades needed to make it all work.

iPhotos upgraded to Photos (which I hated) hence the move to LR, however my 2009 machine simply wasn't up to running the current version of LR... so I've upgraded the machine too...

Nearly there after quite a struggle to get it all working properly and I have imported all my photos into LR catalogue (possibly a few too many in one catalogue, but that's sortable).

Everyone here has been remarkably helpful, even though some of the problems I encountered were self inflicted, and the Lightroom Queen forums are worth finding too...

Have a look at this thread, it's got a lot of my issues listed and links out to a couple of other forums... http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40039

Some Olympus stuff
I didn't get where I am today...
