Glen Muick 2

Mike and me were out yesterday, dodging showers and chasing rainbows.
I had a bit of a "pants" day photo wise, making silly mistakes with settings and stuff so a lot of potentially good pics weren't to be but here's 5 I took that came out ok.

The first 2 are high resolution shots taken with my EM-5 Mk2, although the high res is lost online.

Paul

More memories resurrected! Keep them coming and we shall have even more withdrawal symptoms to return! I like the decapitated stag

Re: Glen Muick 2

I simply must get up there again next year. I used to go regularly, but haven't done so for about 5 years now.

I've not been as far South as the Balmoral Estate and usually base myself at Coylum Bridge and sally forth amongst the 4000 footers and over towards Derry Lodge through the Lairig Ghru, Glen Quoich and the Invercauld Estate (sometimes spending overnight in the 'Secret Howff', rather than camping or bothying). I've become a bit soft and need to harden myself up if I want to do as much next year!

I love how the head in #4 looks like it has been detached from the beast!
Nice set.

Nice shots Paul
I wasn't too chuffed with my LE shots at the start of the daybut converted one to mono and quite pleased with it.
The rest of my images from the day can be seen on my Flickr photostream

The heather grows deep up here
Funnily enough the decapatated one was the one I noticed first of all.

Great shots Paul, the weather does look a bit 'changeable' in the images

Re: Glen Muick 2

I love the wide open space and brooding sky of No 2.

It was at the Spittal of Glenmuick in 1985 (during a coast to coast backpack) that a shoulder strap broke from my rucksac. A close examination revealed that it had been attached to the pack by just one rivet, which had pulled through the cloth. I could not believe that the area around the rivet had not been reinforced and I was not impressed by Karrimor! Fortunately I had a needle and thread tucked away in my small first aid kit and was able to repair it. That was just over 30 years ago, but sometimes it seems like it was only yesterday.

Re: Glen Muick 2

Wonderful shots. Until four years ago I spent at least a week and sometimes much more in this area every year and have such fond memories. I remember once watching, and eventually joining, the local high school boys jumping off that suspension bridge into the river - so exhiliarating! Then cycling back to Ballater on the old railway line for hot chocolate and cake before back again to our rented cottage in the Muir of Dinnet nature reserve and a curry and bottle of red!
