A visitor to British waters

The Smew is a fairly rare visitor from Scandinavia:

A beautiful red head if you are a male Smew!

A handsome male for the lady!

Both using the E-M5 and Pana 100-300

Nice work Dave, we sometimes see these around the harbour at Christchurch but usually too far off to get a decent shot

Re: A visitor to British waters

Superb shots Dave, especially the "redhead". You did well to get them so close.

It's proving to be a good winter for Smew. We had five drakes and three redheads on our reservoir on Saturday.

Thanks for sharing.
