35th Challenge - Out of place, out of time...

Hi,

It's an honour to provide the next challenge, and I have thought (I hope) of a subject that has wide interpretation and many options for creativity - inlcuding "staged" shots.

So: "Out of place, out of time..." means exactly that - a picture that shows something that shouldn't really be where it is...in place or time.

Please email me with your image to nsowon@gmail.com and please include the words Olympus Challenge in the title line.

Details: (All times are GMT)

-Max of 800 pixels wide or high
-Up to 512Kbytes
-EXIF intact please
-Taken by you on an E-series camera between Monday 1st November 2010 and Monday 22nd November 2010 inclusive.
-Please include your name, your forum moniker and a title for the picture.

Full rules:

1. Photos should be taken (dated in EXIF) between Monday 1st November 2010 and Monday 22nd November 2010 inclusive and sent to me during that period. Photos will be posted on Tuesday 23rd Nov 2010. Voting will be from Tuesday 23rd Nov until midnight Monday 29th Nov 2010. I will announce the results on Tuesday 30th November 2010.

2. You must be the photographer who created the picture in order to enter the challenge, and all entries must be visibly anonymous and should be sent to the challenge organiser. You must indicate (a) your real name, (b) your e-group forum name and (c) a title for your photo, in the email. Any entries that are not clearly identifiable and verifiable won't be entered into the challenge.

3. Entries to the challenge :-

Should contain no watermarks, distinguishing effects and no borders
Must be jpg format and no more than 800 pixels on the longest edge
Must have been taken on an Olympus E-Series camera
Must have all EXIF data included for the organiser to verify.
Max file size to suit the gallery here is 512kb.

4. You need to be registered on e-group.uk.net forums to qualify for entry into the challenge. The organiser may also enter the challenge (the entries are anonymous and the organiser is trusted to record votes accurately).

5. Only one entry permitted per challenge please. But if you want to withdraw an entry or replace it with another that's OK, you must make it clear in an email to the challenge organiser before the closing date, also ensure the email contains clear instructions and (if required) your replacement picture.

6. Voting on the challenge:-

Any registered member of the e-group forum may vote, including those who submit entries.
Those who submit entries may vote for their own photo but are expected to allot their choices fairly on perceived merit.
Voters should list their three choices in order of preference, by display number and title to avoid confusion.
Points will be allotted as follows: three to first choice, two to second choice, one to third choice.

I look forward to receiving your entries.

I would appreciate if a moderator could make this a sticky please?

Thanks

David.

I'm hoping the scope is wide enough, and we'll all enjoy looking at everyone's interpretation.

[Edit] I've got nothing yet!

patience grasshopper......... I also think it's a superb topic; so I'll post a couple of my 'rejects' here to, hopefully, illustrate that (they were taken last week)

Reflection out of Time

Out of Place

I really did find the subject stimulating, and it got me shots I wouldn't otherwise have taken. Thank you.

Re: 35th Chalenge - Out of place, out of time...

Ok guys & girls only 2 entries so far!

Photos must be in by 22nd November, so four days to go!

Here are some I would have entered if they'd been taken earlier, from outside my window looking down into the children's play area: definitely out of place!

While not technically wonderful, they do fit the subject very well!

We wonderd if an angry wife had found it and placed it there to embarrass her husband!

Re: 2-horse race...

Is it holiday season

I guess I'm a little disappointed. So far we only have two entrants to this challenge!

I've checked my spambox, and no further entries found.

nsowon@gmail.com is the address if you have any last minute ideas.

David.

I hope you get a few in David, it seems strange that you have more pictures entered by people saying these are the rejects or just for fun rather than entries

Re: 35th Chalenge - Out of place, out of time...

I took some photos for the challenge, but didn't consider them good enough and I've not thought of anything else this month, TBH I'm struggling with it and am working all hours and are in the process of buying a house, so its all rather busy!
