Long Tailed Tit with my new toy

Sorry if I keep posting birds but I really am very pleased with the new lens. Its a bit heavy but soon got used to it and can hand hold it quite well.

Lovelly crisp shot Andy. The focus even looks on the eye which must be hard at that angle. I love the hair style. Looks almost slicked back 60s style.
Which was the new lens? I presume from your sig it is either the 50-500 or the 50-200.
All the best,
Phil

Thanks

The new lens is the Sigma 50-500,I've had the old Oly version of the 50-200 for some time.I am very impessed with the focus speed on the new lens.
I dont think is a walk around lens but very good for wild life.
I might even get up the courage to use it with the EC14 tomorrow if the weather is bright.

John

I might be lucky,Ive heard some peoples opinion of this lens that its not that sharp and some are better than others(another thread somewhere with problems).
It's early days but it seem very good.
I tried the 135-400 but the build seemed much nicer.I dont think it's built as well as an Oly lens and of course not sealed.
The focus is fast(prehaps due to the E3)but is totally different to the 12-60 which is the only thing with Swd I can compare it to.It move quicky and then quivers a bit but so far alway seems to be in focus.

Re: Long Tailed Tit with my new toy

Thanks for the comments Andy, appreciated.

On a serious note - if this image is anything to go by, then I'd say you have a good quality lens there. I have no idea what PP may have been done, but the image is sharp and of obvious quality to be presented here when the bird itself was quite some distance away - which after all, is one of the raison d'etres of such a lens.

I am certain this lens will be added to my kit within a month or so, and with shots like this you're doing your bit to help me make that purchase decision Andy.

Just looked at me prevoius post and my gammer and spelling is worse than usual, probably due to to much beer and wine.

well done, I am sure the extra weight and cost over the 135-400 would give a better build quality and clearly it works. I didn't try them side by side but will look forward to seeing your pictures. I am still happy with the smaller lighter sigma and can take that out for a reasonable walk.

Did your wife notice the big box you brought in?

good shooting

Got permission before hand. Also had a small win on some premium bonds(200.00)which helped.

Thats my camera shopping done for this year unless my premium bonds come up again.
I want the 7-14 but that will have to wait, little chance of winning the compatition over on 4/3 user looking at some of the other entries.

I would love the 7-14mm as well and I too have little chance of winning comp, but you have a very impressive collection of lenses
