Being new to E-1

Being new to the E-1 and photography i have been wondering what other users set the white balance to.is it auto or to one depending on the lighting at the time. Sorry if if this is a stupid question.

Cheers Sid

I don't know if it's best practice or not but I leave mine on auto. I occasionally adjust it in post processing.

I rarely ever adjust it and have found it very reliable. Shoot RAW and it does not matter anyway.

Are you taking in Raw or Jpeg.If you take Raw it does not make any difference as you can adjust it in PP.
If Jpeg I found the auto setting of the E1 to be very good for day to work but not so good under light.
I found in sunlight it would normally hit 5300 and in cloudy conditions 6000 which is about right.
When I use the E1 I normally set it for 5300(as a mid point) and shoot Raw and the adjust it after.
I my opinion the auto white balance is better on the E1 than the E3.

Auto for me too, mostly
In the studio I it set it, and I find the custom white balance good with its dedicated button

Cheers

Re: Being new to E-1

I rarely shoot RAW (I should really do it more often, but the E-1 produces really good JPEGS!)

I have found that auto WB works very well, even under quite difficult lighting conditions like fluorescent tubes. If in doubt, I set a manual WB from a piece of white card.

Good luck with the E-1

Steve

Another vote for RAW.

I always leave the E1 on raw with everything else off and adjust things afterwards.
