Oly 17mm f1.8 on Pen-F, thoughts on Panny 12-32.

I'm not into primes, I took the Pen-F out today with the 17mm on and found it too restrictive, although a little gem of a lens.

I switched to the 40-150 plastic fantastic and all was well

I need a small zoom to go with the camera, not a 12-40 or anything like that, nor an EZ.

I was thinking of the Panny 12-32 (no manual focus on lens)

Are the AF and IS compatible with Oly?

Your thoughts please.

12-32 works fine on the Pen F. A bit slow, but a good performer nonetheless.

I'm happy with my Oly 12-50 though it's not really "small". Works nicely on the Pen-F.

Why do you worry about MF Dave? I personally find I never use MF on any of my native m43 lenses.

I find the Panasonic 14-54 works well on my GX9, similar size to the Pen F so could be worth a try.

Just ordered, 12-32mm from Bristol Cameras....139 inc PP.

Best price on Camera Price Buster...Mathers..239 inc PP.

Not many dealers stocking this lens, just three on CPB.

This is worth a read, IMVHO.

Didn't like mine very much and sold it for 80 quid.
Photos were alright, nothing special and not keen on the way it extended/retracted..

Just saw you mentioned Bristol Cameras, hope it's in stock, awful lot of their goods aren't.

I'm a big fan of the Panasonic 14-45mm, it's reasonably small, produces very good image quality for a budget lens and is well built. I got one in mint condition recently on ebay for 70.00.

So am I, bought mine on here for forty quid and it's a very handy travel lens on my GX9.

Also bought a 12-40 the other week, really excellent on the E-M1
Can see how the OP would want to go lighter on a Pen, but it's a superb lens

I'm now using a 12-40 on my Pen most of the time. Sure, it's a bit big, but it's f2.8, the quality is fantastic, and it's still smaller than the Pen + 12 + 17 + 25 + 45

However, if the light is good, then the little 12-32 does a great job:
