London shoreline and skyline

Interesting shoreline and skyline of London from our recent visit. A bit larger than usual.

I wasn't expecting a beach in the middle of London.

And this is a very different skyline to the one I remember rom my last visit (some time ago I admit)

I guess the number of cranes are symptomatic of the changes.

Re: London shoreline and skyline

I like the hustle and bustle of the crowds on the embankment and then the lone guy in peace and tranquility on the shore. Nice images Phil

Re: London shoreline and skyline

Phil,
A fine set. The multitude of cranes in your last one shows that financiers etc are clearly still making lots of dosh.
There seem to be an awful lot of folk on the balcony of the Monument to the Great Fire - it must be quite a bottleneck on the spiral staircase!

Re: London shoreline and skyline

Great set and well framed Phil. This skyline seems to be changing all the time as your last image shows. Did you go up the Monument to take any pictures as I have my eye on taking some night shots from there?

Re: London shoreline and skyline

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Chevvy don't encourage me too much there are quite a few more These were the best though but I may post a few more a bit later.
Birdboy & Gwyver, I'm afraid we didn't go up the Monument to be honest I didn't realise until after we'd left that you could We definitely would have if I'd known. I'm sure the queues would have been horrendous but it was like that everywhere that weekend so it wouldn't have mattered too much as for once I sort of got used to it. I didn't have much choice.
Phil yes I liked that crowd vs lonely figure contrast too. That was what caught my eye first before I noticed the line-up of the river bridges. I also took a "street type" shot of the lady on the steps I was quite pleased with as well. It make a nice set of three with the two I posted. I was quite a way away so couldn't ask her permission to post it though so I haven't.
Andy as for shot location as far as I remember I think the first two beach ones must have been taken from the Millennium bridge. We did a circular walk across the bridge along the south bank and back across Tower bridge to the Tower and the poppies. I have to say it was a lovely walk on a beautiful day and the South bank is well worth more exploration they have revitalised it very well for us tourists. The other two shots I think must have been taken through the slide-open windows from the top walkway of Tower Bridge. We did the tour and really enjoyed it. It seems like they've opened a glass floor a few days after we visited as well I'd hoped to get a few overhead shots of the poppies too but the only windows where you could see the view I could find were very old and dirty and definitely didn't open.

I just had to review these images several times..simply because I love London, particularly the river scenes and these are just super. Oh how I would love to see them again.😥

Re: London shoreline and skyline

I do like images 3 & 4 of the new skylines. 3 is good showing the Walkie Talkie building with the Gurkin & then the old old Tower of London & 4 with what is to come with all those cranes. No mater where you take an image in London today there are so many cranes
