Miops splash kit?
I quite fancy having a go at water drop photography, and Santa put a little bit of cash in the toys kitty
![]() Before I go spending money on a miops kit though, I have a couple of questions if anyone can advise. I don’t have a flash unit, would one of the cheap brand units do the job? I don’t want to spend more than absolutely necessary to keep the overall cost down and because I have no other use for a flash at all! I also don’t have a macro lens! Would any of my current lenses suffice? I have the 12-40pro, panny 35-100 and Oly 75-300. I could always get some extension tubes if suitable with any of those? Thanks |

Re: Miops splash kit?
There is a method where you reverse e standard lens to create a macro effect. You will need a converter and the focus becomes manulal. The finished item(s) can be stunning and all for very little expenditure layout.
To start you off, this link might help fill in a few gaps ![]()

Re: Miops splash kit?
Any of your lenses shoudd be useable - and any cheap flash that can be connected will be fine -also possible to buy a cheap magnifiying adapter that screws onto the end of your lens to give 2 - 10 times mag. Depending on what you buy
You can also use the camera popup flash.... Jim

Re: Miops splash kit?
Whatever flash you choose make sure it will fire in a manual setting at low power in order to keep the flash duration short. The usual method of doing droplet photography is to take a long exposure and then trigger the flash during the exposure after a short delay to capture the droplet at full height, so using a flash attached to the hotshoe won't work very well.
Good tutorial here. |
