Thanks BT. I knew they existed and have seen the ones near Dover on TV (probably in a Portillo Railway Journeys prograame) but didn't know there were so many.

I visited Jodrell Bank some years ago and they have a pair of 'sound mirrors' IIRC about 25 meters apart. You can speak quietly at the focus of one and another person at the focus of the other mirror can clearly hear you.

We drove to Jodrell Bank for a day out, about 50 yrs ago now, because my wife ( girlfriend at the time ) wanted to look through the big telescope. You can imagine her comments when we discovered it was a Radio Telescope.
