Harrisís Hawk hunting opportunity

A friend of mine owns a Harris’s hawk and a ferret. His services are used by a farmer to clear rabbits from damaging his land. I’m due to visit him at Leicester during spring and he would like me to get some shots of his bird in action.
The rabbits will be eaten.
If I ask nicely he will probably allow me to invite 1 or 2 more people from this forum. Just looking for expressions of interest for now then depending on demmand will see how far I can twist his arm :-)

Thanks

Tim

Sorry Tim, to me, hunting live rabbits with hawks or ferrets is the same as fox hunting. It's just another excuse to engage in blood sport. If the rabbits are genuinely causing a problem for the farmer, there are much more humane ways of controlling them than being ripped apart by a hawk or ferret.

Re: Harris Hawk hunting opportunity

No worries was conscious of that when I posted the thread had a feeling it may cause an element of controversy, however birds such as red kites do this to survive albeit without the aid of a ferret and of nature. Equally I’m sure some farmers welcome different forms of control. I totally respect your stance and wouldn’t try to sway you otherwise. Its something I would like to experience and judge for myself, once I have experienced it. I may ultimately share your point of view in the future regardless of my pre concieved perception.
