Cool Now that the sun is out and it's getting warmer...

...so I hope the incentive to try out some exotic or unusual items from the e-group Olympus hire stock is rising!

I can honestly say that the vast majority of our customers so far have been happy. Of the nearly 30 lenses and or cameras and flash units we've hired out since we started the service at the end of last year, a couple arrived late due to bad weather (we now send lenses out a day earlier if bad weather could be a problem), we had a courier van driver who said when delivering a lens that the customer wasn't there when he certainly was, and we had a problem getting a lens back from our first international customer (in Spain) because the international courier network had sacked its local affiliate! We got the lens back eventually.

One customer came to our premises all the way from Bristol to check us out He's now a repeat customer In fact we have several repeat customers.

We did disappoint one customer who wanted a lens that was yet to be delivered to us by Olympus. Another customer got very annoyed because for some unknown reason he couldn't read the pdf docs we sent him (nobody else has had any problem) and so he, sadly, cancelled.

The biggest worry for us is that we'll get someone who wants something but we're out of stock. So my advice is that if you know you're going to need a particular item, book early (we won't ask for payment until a few days before we ship the lens). We don't want to disappoint anyone because of late bookings!

So what are YOU going to hire?

Ian - You know what they say about pleasing all of the people all of the time - you can't!

For what's its worth i personally think you have done a terrific job in getting the whole thing of the ground.

Lets hope it continues to flourish

Re: Now that the sun is out and it's getting warmer...

Well, I'm really looking forward to lots of people enjoying all the lenses we have here

The big 90-250s and 300s have been very popular, and the 50-200 has just recently become popular.

The biggest surprise is the limited interest in the 14-35 f/2 (perhaps my favourite lens of all); only one taker so far, although he went for a 2 week loan.

We've just had an enquiry for a 300mm f/2.8 - going to the Arctic!

Re: Now that the sun is out and it's getting warmer...

I was very happy with my hire in January. And here is an example of what the 50-200 can do.
I also used it with the 2x converter but everything had to be on a tripod to stop shake. (including the wildlife)
I'm looking forward to my next hire for use on Orkney at the end of May.

Nice shot I would want the 200m and the X2 to keep away from him
