advice on flash

Can anyone tell me of a good 3rd party flash gun at a reasonable price?

I have seen the FL50 here at 195

I am sure I also spotted the FL-36 for 99 but can't seem to remember where

Third party units at similar power are:

Metz 36 AF-? Flashgun around 60
Metz 48 AF- 1 Digital Hotshoe Flashgun - Olympus/Panasonic around 180
Metz 54 MZ-4i Hotshoe Flashgun for OLYMPUS DIGITAL around 250

Sigma EF 500 DG Super Flashgun around 150

It all depends on the use you are looking at, whether you need full swivel, tilt etc. and the level of power. With the non-'R' versions having come down in price the FL-50 at 195 probably represents the best value in my mind, although the FL-36 at 99 is very good too, if you can find it.

Re: advice on flash

Just spotted a used FL-50 on Ffordes for just 129, their used stock comes with 6 months warranty so might be well worth a look.

Used Equipment then Digital Camera then Olympus Accessories.

Re: advice on flash

I suggest that you make the next purchase a flash sync (CB05) and feel the freedom of off camera flash !

Andy

Re: advice on flash

I recently bought the Jessops "canon" cable for 34.99 - and it works perfectly with the FL-36.

Yup

Sorry I should have reminded people of that option - it was brought to my attention following some useful posts in this thread http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=205 and I can now confirm that it works for me.

I picked up an official cable at a reasonable price and one of these so I can use my 2 cameras with flash set up - so far no problems

Regards
Andy
