HDEW..Ridiculous price.

I'm interested in a Olympus M.ZUIKO ED 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 II

HDEW.....269
Others generally 479

210 cheaper.

Based on my principle of 'if it seems too good to be true, it usually is'....????

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

I got mine for 250 a couple of years back, from John Lewis (of all places!) and it was their standard new price at the time, not some kind of sale. Though it may have been 300 from JL and 50 cashback from Olympus.

It can be a really good lens so long as the light is sufficient for the apertures on offer.

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

I got mine for the same price Rob a few years ago at The NEC Photo Show. Great price for a new lens. Shame the thief that half inched it a few weeks later got an even better deal

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

Didn't realise what a good deal it was at the time. I still use it a lot as part of my lighter weight kit. My Four Thirds 50-200 f/2.8-3.5 (with or without EC14) gives even more wonderful images, but is a bit bulky and heavy.

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

They do have some very good prices on Olympus lenses at the moment. For example they have the 45mm f1.2 Pro at 689. Compare that to 1049 from SRS.

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

I've bought from HDEW in the past and they've been very good. They are a grey importer but offer their own UK-based 3 year warranty (at least they did the last time I bought from them). I've never had to use the warranty service, though.

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

I bought a Leica 12-60 f2.8-4.0 from HDEW last July. It arrived within a few days and cost under 500. They also provided regular order status by email.

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

I bought mine from HDEW a few years ago. No probs. In fact I just bought another plastic fantastic for 99 from them. Bargain or what (split from kit but still brand new). Seems pretty sharp even wide open. Testing time tomorrow. What's not to like about this lens?
It will be part of my light weight Pen F kit (along with my 12-50) for a week in Spain in three week's time.

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

I've bought a lot of Olympus and Nikon gear from HDEW and had absolutely superb service. Saved a lot of money with them.

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

Just bought the Oly 17mm f1.2 at a great price. When I informed them after an earlier purchase arrived in a really bashed parcel, they were very helpful. I didn't need to send it back as the lens was fine; good packing must have saved it.

Re: HDEW..Ridiculous price.

Clifton Cameras were selling the 75-300mm for 313.65 around Black Friday when there was also 85 cashback getting it down to 228.65.

John Lewis (2 year warranty?) were price matching Clifton Cameras if asked, and if you were a JL loyalty cardholder the 5 code/voucher from their card mailing (with the free drink and cake vouchers) would have got it down to 223.65.

Some protection from eBay if it does not arrive right?
