Actually Jehoshaphat, we’d hoped he might make the high jump at the Olympics, sadly it never happened.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

We need a new word that describes that which exceeds hypocrisy:

“Ironically, given that Paul Dacre, is one of the principal cheerleaders for Brexit, he and his estate have benefitted from EU farm subsidies to the tune of £226,000 over the past two years. The Daily Mail under his editorship has been noticeably critical of the “wasteful” way the subsidies are handed out.”

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Wikipedia considers the Daily Mail a potentially unreliable source. There have been discussions by editors as to whether attributions should be banned.

"In general, tabloid newspapers, such as The Sun, Daily Mirror, the Daily Mail (see also the February 2017 RFC discussing its validity), equivalent television shows, should be used with caution, especially if they are making sensational claims. The Daily Express and Sunday Express should be treated with even greater caution."

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

The written word, fake news etc, etc, are bad enough and, as suggested, quite rightly should be put under even more severe scrutiny.

What wories me more is the subliminal messages that can't be seen or heard yet can pose even more danger than to what we physically see and hear?

Reading items of news on the web is just one such area where the message(s) could get across and we wouldn't know if or when we were physically hacked into... welcome to Big Bruvver's 1984.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Given the Express' continual predictions of artic blizzards and tropical heatwaves over the last few years that never materialised, I would never take anything else it printed as gospel either!

They are supposed to be for environmental work actually done, not to subsidise food production.
