Battery usage question

I have been trying to determine just how my Olympus E-M1II uses the main battery and the grip battery: in what order, uniformly, or what? Haven't been able to come to any conclusion. Does anybody know just how the two batteries are used.
Additional comment: not impressed with having to remove the grip each time to recharge the battery.
Thanks

Re: Battery usage question

By default the grip's battery is used first & then the camera's. That is ideal as the most accessible battery being in the grip can be replaced by a 3rd battery when convenient & when that goes flat there is still power in the camera's battery to keep going.

BTW, it is a good idea to swap the two main batteries around after a couple of charges. In other words, put the fully charged battery in the camera & use up the half empty one in the grip, but if going out for a long shoot then obviously you'd fully charge them both.

Re: Battery usage question

Thanks for the two replies. The manual is just too thick. Bit more understanding now.
