Shadow message

I have a SHADOW message appearing at the bottom right of the LCD screen and parts of the image shown is alternating between black and white.

Not very well described, apologies.

Can somebody clue me in as to what I've done and how to rectify, please.

It sounds very much like, while in playback mode, you've pressed the Info button. Every time you do this it displays a different screen - the one you're on is showing you the shadow areas. Press it a couple more times and you'll get back to normal. But then go through them one by one to see what they show you. There'll be one for highlights, one showing you the histogram and a couple of others that I can't remember offhand.

Very useful to see the blown highlights or shadows..........I worry more about the highlights, and keep it on this setting most of the time.
