Re: Pictures from Skye

Just arrived back home, here are a couple of my Sea Eagle photos

Many thanks to Seonnaidh for so successfully organising the weather and sea eagles, and even bigger thanks to Linda for her delicious apple crumble

Superb, Chris!

I really like the vertical framing as well.

You had apple crumble? Now I am jealous!

Two excellent pics, by the way, Chris.

Excellent shots Chris, I hate you now
You and Iain have certainly got me beaten hands down on the Sea Eagles.

I am just so pleased you enjoyed yourself.
Looking forward very much to meeting you again.
Don't be a stranger.

John, well done - you are right, it was number 5 - here is what Lightroom started off with:

Bright, eh?

Thats right, not just one of your everyday, if Carlsberg made crumbles they would be like this, but a Linda crumble

The credit for the photos goes to Seonnaidh, without his patient tutelage , and the threat of crumble confiscation I would not be half, or even 7/16s, the photographer I am now

It's amazing how much detail you was able to recover! Just shows the advantage of digital, a slide like that in the old days would have been unusable.

Re: Pictures from Skye

What a fantastic event the 'Highland Meet' turned out to be! Only managed the Saturday with the group but had a great day. Many thanks to Seonnaidh for his organisation and hospitality, Ian for the excellent range of lenses he brought up for us to try and his technical advice, Duncan for his 'local knowledge' and to each and every one of the guys who attended whose company made it a very special event.

Ian and Chris - great images of the Sea Eagles, really jealous now we couldn't get along with you.

For those who didn't make it, a selection of images from the locations visited on Saturday. Sorry there are so many - it was what I would call a target rich environment!

1. Starting at the Fairy Pools. We didn't see any fairies but did get to see something unexpected! I'm sure the 'event' was captured by some of the other guys so all may be revealed in due course!

We then moved to the beach at Glenbrittle for a change of scenery and a well earned warm drink.

Next on to Sligachan. I borrowed the 7-14mm off Ian here - what a fantastic lens but very difficult to keep unwanted people out of the images. Not helped by the arrival of a wedding party (ask Ian about standing his tripod in the stream for 20 mins and still not getting the shot!), 2 tour buses and 8 other Oly usesrs all vying for the best position.

Our final daylight destination was 'the Braes', a verdant, windswept peninsular with views of the Old Man of Storr and the odd dolphin or two (though unfortunately at very long range).

After a very pleasant meal in Seamus's Bar at Sligachan and a very hospitable dram or 'cuppa' at Seonnaidh's we just managed to catch the sun setting over Loch Harport.

Rena and I made our own way back today via the old ferry rather than the bridge so there will be more images posted in my gallery in due course.

Re: Pictures from Skye

Great shots, Steve, you obviously had a fantastic day. Thanks for posting these, it kind of makes up for not being able to go myself!

Lovely shots Steve - great work. I'm also so envious that you can remember all the place names! I have requested a favour off Photographic Memory Duncan (Wanderer) to label all my shots for me

Re: Pictures from Skye

Like Steve I was only on Skye for the Saturday and left everyone at Seamus's bar with a view to getting home at a reasonable time for an early start on Sunday. I only managed about 20 miles before being held up for 4.5 hrs in a traffic jam caused by the death of a poor young motorcyclist in a road traffic accident.
On a lighter note here are a few pictures from the day starting with one from my journey over to Skye (I bet you've never seen a picture of this place before!)

The only problem with the venue was it was crawling with photographers!

A couple of the river (Alt a' Choire Ghreadaidh - ask Duncan how it is pronounced) below the pools

One of the pools

I will look for a few more to upload

Just hope I DID remember them correctly - I'm sure Duncan will put me right if not.

Thanks John, I'm hoping there will be a Highland Meet part 2 sometime when it would be fantastic to have you along.

A few more:
One more from the river

Then we moved down to the shore by the Glen Brittle

and onto the Sligachan (or Slig if you are 'in the know' )

And the final one for this evening from our time at the Braes near Portree (spot the photographers - they were everywhere!)
