Re: EP3 and 14-42

There's nothing wrong with the 14-42, especially the Mk II version - people just like to pixel peep and nitpick, especially as it's a kit lens..... I've seen some striking photos taken with it around various forums.

Your images look fine to me, although you can never tell for sure with a small JPEG at web resolution. If you're happy, that's all the counts....

Re: EP3 and 14-42

They look great to me. Was this critic a user of the 2 main DSLRs?

Re: EP3 and 14-42

I think those OOC JPEGs are just terrible, I mean the colours are so muted and artificial and the WB is way out of line. And look at all the noise, pouring out of every pixel! People on other forums always know what they're talking about, don't they?

Re: EP3 and 14-42

Hi - I think the photos are great.

BUT.

Although I have had good photos from my EP3 / 14-42 I do think there are issues with this lens. The build quality is pretty poor, it is supplied with a plastic rather than metal mount and not even a proper back cap. The grips are also very prone to damage - why not use a rubber grip?

All in all I think Olympus have been pretty tight fisted with this lens - although at least they made sure the glass was OK. For the price and in comparison with Panasonics offerings I think we should expect better. I know it is a kit lens but Olympus do not offer a higher grade alternative.

Moan over and I still think the photos are great! David
