Re: Where's Viewer 2?

I just started using Viewer 2 & it came up with the prompt box (might have been the next day) to update software.

Re: Where's Viewer 2?

There wasn't. I downloaded again and there is now. Don't ask me how or why.

Re: Where's Viewer 2?

I didn't have any help files either. In the options icon (third from right) select startup from list then check the box for automatic check for updates on startup. Close viewer then restart. The help file will be offered for download.

Re: Where's Viewer 2?

I am cursed!

Suddenly, without even the courtesy of any 'by your leave', Version 2 has switched to Japanese. Or it may be Chinese, or Korean, or ..... God Knows. Well perhaps He doesn't. Certainly I don't.

There is doubtless a simple way of getting it to reconsider. Just to humour me. After all it did originally. Somewhere in 'Options' perhaps. Only of course I can't find options. Not knowingly anyway. And even if I did stumble across it I wouldn't know which one to pick.

So unless anyone can offer guidance, commiseration, or drink, I shall have to download it again.

Only I have no guarantee that it will behave itself next time. Perhaps sometime when I am feeling stronger .... It has been a hard day ....

Re: Where's Viewer 2?

Options can be accessed by Ctrl/K, which should be the same in any language. You then want the second item down, then in the bottom of the 3 right-hand boxes put a tick (to automatically check for updates) and in the drop-down in the same box, tick the top item, which sets it to check daily.

OR

Do the Ctrl/K, select the top option (General), and in the bottom of the drop-downs on the right select English as display language.

Hope this helps.

Re: Where's Viewer 2?

Except if you change it to a non-european language then English is no longer read in English.

However Cntrl/K, then with the first item highlighted press Reset - bottom of page.

Then OK in pop up box (lh button) and OK again at bottom of screen. Restart Viewer

Re: Where's Viewer 2?

Thanks Nick and Stephen. The trouble started when I had a power cut and, although Version 2 was not running when it occurred, the programme obviously felt somewhat miffed about it.

But with your help it seems to have been placated and is now behaving in a more obliging way.

Long may it last.

Thanks again,

Malcolm

What! You can't read Japanese?

Nick, just curious, but how do save an image of the screen without photographing it?

No, because they are looking for diapers in our shops & can't find any.

It seems people are running the program directly from the download. I find it safer to save the executable file in a dedicated computer files folder first for any future use (it saves downloading it again), then run it after the web browser program is closed.

Prtscn - button on keyboard normally above numeric keys, then paste into paint or someother graphics program.
