Cleaning question

I've been out and got a little dirty while using the camera, so have sat down and spent a while cleaning my kit up.

I tend to use a blower, lens brush and lens cloth, but have found that I need to get a bit more thorough in a couple of places!

Focus ring grips: A couple have muddy fingerprints in-between the texture.
Lens hood flock: My 300 f4 has a flock lining to the lens hood and there's a splash of muddy water got on it.

I noticed the Olympus technician was using a "wet wipe" presumably a alcohol based cleaning solution on a cloth, I have some computer wet wipes are these suitable for the lens casing? Are there any smear free ones suitable for the lens/filter surface?

What do you use?

Re: Cleaning question

Ta - sounds spot on (or should that be spot off?)

Any ideas about the flock inside the lens hood?

Re: Cleaning question

I did some refurbishment on the hoods of Ian's 300mm f/2.8 lenses and found the interior to be quite delicate, so used diluted fairy liquid and a soft brush. Basically very careful carpet cleaning.
