Re: Nik collection now free

Brilliant, downloaded it a couple of days ago.

At first it appeared that HDR Efex Pro 2 had not been downloaded in either PSE 13 or LR 6.

I still cannon access HDR in PSE 13, but to access HDR in LR 6...right click the image and EXPORT, HDR will be found there.

You can always access tiffs in standalone mode: start the Nik application then 'open' the file or files from the menu in the top left hand corner, then process it/them the normal way.

However, in that mode you MUST save the resulting masterpiece manually from the menu, and I'd suggest to do that s a tiff rather than jpeg. If you don't save, all your craftsmanship is lost!

You can then import that tiff in to whatever you're continuing to edit with.

Free Download of Google Nik Collection

I believe this is for Photoshop, Elements or Lightroom:

Don't ever pay full price for a Topaz app ... check their website or FB page, and there's always some money-off offer on for one app or another; and if you register and 'attend' one of their webinars on the app you fancy, there's usually a code given out at the end for 15% off.
For use outside of Photoshop, etc., you have to buy this software:

http://www.topazlabs.com/photofxlab

If you have Photoshop and FXlab you can, in my experience, install the plugins only in one or the other. I uninstalled the FXlaB so that I could install the plugins into Photoshop, not least because FX lab cannot open ORF RAW files.

I think that would be OK for me: I assume I could import tiffs created in Capture One?

Maybe they found it a bit taxing?

Re: Nik collection now free

Had a very quick play with this and it's brilliant. This was about 5 minutes exploring using Silver Efex pro stand alone. Just set a shortcut on your desktop to the Nik Collection folder and you are set to go.

I've downloaded it too. Used it within Elements. Love the Silver Efex Pro. I'm very pleased it is now free. Used it today on a set of photos and it gave a real boost to the images.

Re: Nikcollection now free!

Ok - I'm confused. At the top of the page it says free, but lower down it says :-

"More affordable than ever

You don’t have to choose between plug-ins -- now you get the full set for one low price. You can take the whole collection for a spin with a 15-day free trial."

So is it really free - and if not, how much do they want us to pay?

Has anyone down loaded this yet and have they been asked to pay for it?

Cheers,

Ralph.

I think that's old text from before they decided to give it away.

"Starting March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection will be freely available to download: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days."
