Morus bassanus

Or the beautiful Northern Gannet

It was time for the annual trip to RSPB Bempton Cliffs this weekend.

The weather was mixed and 50mph gusting winds made holding the camera steady problematic - not to mention the veering birds!

This is one of my favourite shots of the day, showing the bird's broad wingspan:

Thanks for looking.

Re: Morus bassanus

I could spend (and have spent) hours watching them dive into the ocean, a favourite of mine and you have captured it beautifully.

Re: Morus bassanus

Cracking shot Brian, very well captured.

I'm still working my way through my Bempton pics from April and hope to be there again this weekend, I'll be very happy if I have an image close to the quality of yours.

Re: Morus bassanus

Nicely shot Brian
Theres a Gannet colony about an hours drive from home.
Always amazing to watch and photograph them as the hang in the air when windy.
They remind me of Concorde

Re: Morus bassanus

That is a really great shot, the wings are amazing and have a touch of the boomerang about them.

Lovely shot, we have them dive bombing fish just offshore.

A terrific image Brian. It looks great spread against the blue/green sea. Very nice indeed.

Enjoyed seeing this one Brian. As said, the bird looks great against that background. Great capture.
