A Stroll Around Loch Affric (Image Heavy - Sorry!)

I had Saturday free and fancied stretching my legs so set off around Loch Affric with a borrowed camera (that's a whole 'other' story) for the 5 hour 18km stroll.
1. Initially on the north side of the glen there is a good track to the lodge:

2. It soon deteriorated (yes this is the path not a river!):

3. the source of all that water:

4. The weather ahead looked a little bit ropey:

5. I made it to the end and this is the view as you swing round towards the south side of the glen:

6. This is Athnamulloch Bothy soon to be renovated as a base for an ambitious Trees for Life replanting project:

7. A view north of the end of the loch (not many on the beach?):

8. Another view across the loch to the north:

9. The last few kilometres are generally through pine trees on a well surfaced track and can be a little disappointing, but I was chuffed to get a shot of a Crossbill, only my 2nd ever sighting and 1st with a camera at hand:

(Heavily cropped)

10. And finally one from the car park looking back to where I had come from:

Thanks for looking

That's a lovely set Iain. I think the shot of the old croft is my favourite. Must "do" the highlands sometime soon.

Lovely set Iain. That threatening sky really shows the majesty of the mountains.

No need for apology for the number of images either!

One of my favourite places Iain
Especially like the views to Keeper's Cottage.
Imagine waking up to this every morning? - Bliss
May well have a trip to here or Cannich on Sunday.
We are booked in to Loch Ness Shores near Falls of Foyers this weekend

Love the crossbill. I was last there in 1970, and I seem to remember more trees then. But a lovely glen, and it looks as quiet as it ever did. You're making me want to go back there!
